2017-04-21 :: Elena Belova and Boris Zhikharevich Took Part in a Seminar-Dialogue "Towards Baltic 2030 - From Talk to Work"


The Secretary General of ICSER Leontief Centre, Head of Development Department Elena Belova and Director of the Resource Center for Strategic Planning under ICSER Leontief Centre Boris Zhikharevich took part in the seminar-dialogue "Towards Baltic 2030 - From Talk to Work" during the events program of the 14th Deutsche Woche in St. Petersburg at the Lecture Hall of Peter and Paul Fortress. Boris Zhikharevich made a welcome address under the seminar’s opening and Elena Belova was a moderator at the panel session “Priorities and Challenges”.

Seminar Organizers: Council of the Baltic Sea States Secretariat in partnership with Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg jointly with Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety, ICSER Leontief Centre, St. Petersburg State Company "Mineral", Russian Geographical Society. 

The seminar’s agenda was related to 17 Sustainable Development Goals:

  1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere.
  2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
  3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
  4. Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.
  5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
  6. Ensure access to water and sanitation for all.
  7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
  8. Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all.
  9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
  10. Reduce inequality within and among countries.
  11. Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
  12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
  13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
  14. Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources.
  15. Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss.
  16. Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies.
  17. Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.


How do Russia and Germany implement SDG 2030 in the Baltic Sea region? What are the challenges we face and resources available for the SDG successful achievement? Representatives of administration, science, business and NGOs have tried to give answers on these questions.
