2018-01-28 :: ICSER Leontief Centre Employees Took Part in the Cities.Multimodal Project Meeting Held in Pskov (Russia)

The first work meeting on the project Cities. Multimodal - Towards Sustainable Urban Transportation Systems, INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014-2020, was held in Pskov. The meeting brought together the leading experts and specialists of Pskov city in the field of transport, beatification, culture, tourism, traffic control, transport planners and engineers, cycling communities jointly with representatives of ICSER Leontief Centre, who coordinate the Green Mobility project.

The project area covers 17 cities from 8 European countries: Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia, presented by ICSER Leontief Centre and Pskov City Administration as associated partners.

During the seminar participants discussed sustainable urban transportation system and its development prospects in Pskov, existing challenges of urban space and possible solutions in order to make Pskov livable and attractive. Nowadays, Pskov road network is one of the busiest in the North-West Russia that should be considered while running large international events. In 2019, the city will host over 200 delegations from Russia and European Union within the 39th International Hanseatic Days. The main challenge for Pskov is to provide transport accessibility and develop safe and user-friendly urban mobility for citizens and city guests. Besides, Green Mobility project experts Olga Iakimenko and Andrey Kostyuchenko showcased the best practice of Nordic countries of developing sustainable mobility and improving transport accessibility in the cities that can be applied to the project Cities. Multimodal.
